Gran Canaria consolidates its presence at the 38th Gourmets Show with a dozen companies that exhibit the quality and diversity of the local product

The Cabildo of Gran Canaria, through the Gran Canaria Me Gusta program and with the support of the Gran Canaria Chamber of Commerce, participates this week in the 38th edition of the Madrid Gourmets Show, the most important international quality food and beverage fair in Europe. The event, which is celebrated from 7 al 10 April at IFEMA, brings together more than 2.100 exhibitors, 55.000 products and close to 100.000 professional visitors, in an environment dedicated exclusively to haute cuisine, specialized trade and the HORECA channel.

A total of ten Gran Canaria companies participate with their products in the joint Canary Islands stand. This exhibition space, of 510 Square meters, It is coordinated by the Government of the Canary Islands and has tasting areas, presentations and business meetings, designed to promote contact between the producers of the Archipelago and potential national and international buyers.

In this edition, The companies that represent Gran Canaria are: in Asoquegra, The Irish, Salt Flats of Tenefe, Dismepe Canary Islands, Terorero, Isla Bonita Jams, Valsequillo Cheeses, Gofio La Piña, Nublo Sweets and Lagar de Valleseco Cider. All of them will show throughout the fair the excellence and variety of the local product through tastings., professional tastings and presentations aimed at importers, distributors, restaurateurs and purchasing managers. “For us, being here is very important because we continue to promote the artisan cheeses of Gran Canaria and, besides, “It is a great satisfaction to see the great work that has been done by the Cabildo of Gran Canaria so that our cheeses are currently in demand and valued by peninsular palates”, committed by María del Carmen Pérez, president of Asoquegran.

This Monday the 15th GourmetQuesos is also celebrated, the Championship of the Best Cheeses of Spain 2025, where the Arquegran and Lomo Gallego cheese factories (Galdar) compete in the categories of semi-cured mix and cured mix. This Thursday the jury's verdict will be known, among whose members is the master cheesemaker of Gran Canaria, Isidoro Jimenez.

The 30th Spanish Sommelier Championship Tierra de Sabor will also take place on Thursday, in which the Gran Canarian Diego Tornel competes.

The Minister of Economic Development, Minerva Alonso, visited the island stand today and highlighted the relevance of maintaining the institutional commitment to this fair: “Being in Salón Gourmets is not just another promotional action. Coming every year means betting on what is ours, by small and medium-sized companies that produce unique products, and that they need platforms like this to grow”. And it is that, as the counselor wanted to emphasize, “stability in attendance at strategic fairs like this is what allows business relationships to mature, "that contacts initiated in other editions are consolidated and that our companies gain security in their external projection".
