The XXVIII Gran Canaria Wine Competition already has winners

A total of eight wineries, from five municipalities on the island, they win the ten awards, demonstrating the heterogeneity of the island references

The ten awards of the XXVIII Island Tasting of Gran Canaria Wines, which is organized every year by the Island Council. A total of ten awards were announced, three per category (reds, white and semi-dry, semidulces, sweet and liqueur) plus a special mention for the best image.

The verdict determined a very distributed edition of the Island Tasting, with eight wineries represented for the ten awards. In the semi-dry category, semidulces, sweet and liqueur, The third prize went to Sweet Tirajanas, the second to Sweet semisweet and the first to sweet eidan. In the white section, the Señorío de Cabrera was the third, Guiniguada Corner white the second and The Mountain got first place.

In the young red category, third prize went to Don't go 1050, the second to Lost Square and the first to a novelty, Las Cuevas Wine from the heights of Saint Matthew. The best image also corresponded to one of the latest additions, the wine To the Hit, collaborative reference that leads Javier Ventura.

The awards are located in the municipalities of San Bartolome de Tirajana, Counted, Saint Brigid, Saint Matthew y Tejeda, leaving evidence of the increase in the quality of wines throughout the island. They participated in the contest 52 references with Designation of Origin Gran Canaria, belonging to 15 bodegas.

The Official Gran Canaria Wine Competition had a jury made up of 16 qualified members from all over the Canary Islands, who blindly tasted the 52 samples. Among them, 30 reds, 15 white and 7 semisecos, semidulces, sweet and liqueur.
