The AVAPAL initiative has already marketed meat from five animals, compared to the two initially planned, and offers it in El Llanito

Meat from native breeds of La Palma is once again available to consumers. The Association of Palmera Breed Beef Breeders (AVAPAL) has recovered its commercialization and the product can now be purchased in the El Llanito butcher shop, as reported by the Island Council.

The project began with a modest forecast: market meat from two animals before finishing 2026. However, that number has already been exceeded, reaching the five animals, a first result that opens a new sales avenue for farmers dedicated to breeding native breeds.

The initiative aims to recover the presence of these meats in the local market and offer a commercial outlet for a production closely linked to the island's traditional livestock farming..

The Cabildo of La Palma supports the work of AVAPAL and considers that marketing is essential to guarantee the continuity of these farms.. In this sense, the insular advisor of Agriculture, Alberto Paz, remember that "conserving these breeds involves ensuring that their breeding remains profitable".

The recovery of this product also represents an opportunity for consumers to access meat from local livestock., whose economic viability is decisive to maintain the native breeds of La Palma.
