The island has a stand 80 m² where professionals from the sector and producers, with special emphasis on the Northern Region, take center stage

This Monday, the island of Gran Canaria inaugurated its participation in the 10th edition of the Canary Islands Gastronomic Fair, Gastrocanarias, with a stand 80 square meters dedicated to highlighting the culinary wealth and products of its Northern Region. The Minister of Economic Development, Minerva Alonso, has accompanied the island's companies on this opening day, highlighting the strategic role of gastronomy within the island economic model.
“From the Cabildo of Gran Canaria we do constant work to enhance the local product through the Gran Canaria Me Gusta promotion and marketing program., in collaboration with the Food Sovereignty area and the Chamber of Commerce, who is the one who accompanies us in this action”, Alonso stated.. “We want our companies to position themselves in the regional and national market, and events like this are a real opportunity to expand networks, gain visibility and reinforce our identity as a destination of quality and origin”, he added.
During the three days of the fair, attendees will be able to enjoy around twenty demonstrations, tastings and tastings led by chefs, Passers, bakers, sommeliers, mixologists and producers from the municipalities of Arucas, Firg, Moya, Galdar, Agaete, Santa María de Guía, Artenara, The Village of San Nicolás, Teror and Valleseco. Restaurants like La Marisma, The Canarian Tasca, Romantic House, La Catedral Bistró and El Rincón de Marcos will show their gastronomic vision through dishes made with kilometer zero products.
Bakeries like Juncalillo or Abraham Romero, together with Dulcería Nublo and the Gran Canaria Almond Association, will star in the traditional pastry and bakery section, while Sorondongo and A Casa Mía, as guest restaurants, They will pay tribute to the region with their proposals.
The cheeses of Bolaños and Proquenor, the artisan jams of Deleite Canario, Terorero chorizos and blood sausages, or the potatoes made by technician Armando Rodríguez complete a program that also includes coffee, watercress, oranges, onion or mangoes as main ingredients.
In addition, seventeen professionals from Gran Canaria participate in the different regional competitions organized within the framework of Gastrocanarias, from cooking and pastry to tapas, burgers and sandwiches, representing the emerging and consolidated talent of the island.
Concretely, Iván Pulido and his assistant Agustín Díaz and Manuel A participate in the 19th Canary Islands Cooking Championship. García and his assistant Lidia Dumpiérrez. Anthony Justiniano will be the chef at the 10th Canary Islands Youth Championship, Alejandro Lopez, Saylem Cuevas y Bryan Rodríguez, with their respective assistants Daniel Lozano, Yeray Sarmiento, Óscar Vega and Nast Pulido.
In the 10th Canary Islands Snacks and Pastry Championship there will also be representation from Gran Canaria, by Daniel Castro; as well as in the Pastry Shop with Pablo Rodríguez and Alessandro Rusconi and their respective assistants Liliana Olivares and Valeria Ippoliti. Finally, Cristian Déniz will participate in the Tapas and Hamburger contests in both cases.
