Thirteen Canarian wines awarded in the XXII Bacchus International Competition 2024

HM Las Vetas 2019, from the PDO El Hierro, get a Great Gold, the highest award of this Spanish competition

A total of thirteen Canarian wines have been awarded in the XXII International Wine Competition, Bacchus Vermouths and Spirits 2024. HM Las Vetas 2019 (DOP El Hierro) has obtained a Grand Gold in this edition, the highest distinction of this Spanish competition, celebrated between 15 and the 19 April in Madrid.

Among those awarded Gold are the productions Mavi Dry White Reverón Payments 2023, from Bodega Reverón (DOP Abona); Vera Pinto 2021, from El Mirador de Adra Winery (DOP El Hierro); Great Sweet White Salmor 2017, of the Campo Frontera Cooperative Society (DOP El Hierro); Marba Tinto Barrica 2023, of Bodegas Marba S.L. (Dop Tacoronte-Icentejo); Vulcano Malvasía Volcánica Dry 2023, from the Vulcano Winery of Lanzarote S.L.. (PDO Lanzarote); Yaiza Essence 2023, from the SAT Vega De Yuco (PDO Lanzarote); y CAN 2022, from Bodegas Tajinaste S.L. (DOP Valle de la Orotava). In addition, Bodega El Grifo S.A. has been awarded for two of its products, canary y Malvasía Lías 2018 (PDO Lanzarote).

For your part, The wines recognized with a Silver were Montoro White Barrel 2022, prepared by Mario Rodríguez Mendoza (Dop La Gomera), Barrica white sea 2021, of Bodegas Marba S.L. (Dop Tacoronte-Icentejo) y Tear of Malvasía Volcánica 2023, by Producciones Arráez Bravo S.L. (PDO Lanzarote).

In addition, he Humboldt Vermouth, of Bodegas Insulares de Tenerife S.A., received a Gold.

The Minister of Agriculture, Cattle raising, Fisheries and Food Sovereignty of the Government of the Canary Islands, Narvay Quintero, highlighted that “These distinctions represent recognition of the quality of the islands' wines., and at the same time an important boost to its promotion inside and outside the archipelago”. “They also contribute to making the work of our farmers visible., technicians, winemakers and the advisory work carried out by the Regulatory Councils, and highlight our varietal wealth and the uniqueness of productions that are the result of heroic viticulture.”, added.

The jury of this competition is made up of journalists, sommeliers, winemakers, Masters of Wine y Masters of Sommelier, who are responsible for evaluating and recognizing the exceptional quality of the participating wines.
