The 1st edition of the Gran Canaria Bites with Cheese Contest is called in Madrid Fusion Foods of Spain
This Friday the call for what will be I edition of the contest “Bites with Cheese from Gran Canaria”, organized by Gran Canaria Tourism, through its gastronomic brand Savor Gran Canaria and with the collaboration of the Gran Canaria Chamber of Commerce which will take place within the framework of Madrid Fusion Foods from Spain 2026.
“Snacks with Cheese from Gran Canaria” was born with the aim of becoming a reference event regarding the Gran Canaria cheeses, an emblematic product of extraordinary diversity. The competition will bring together restaurant professionals and students from the sector, both among the participants and the jury. Its objective is to recognize those who stand out for their creativity and ability to create unique proposals where Gran Canaria cheeses are the true protagonists..
In its commitment to gastronomic talent and the dissemination of local products, Gran Canaria Tourism participate for the first time in Madrid Fusion Foods from Spain 2026 with various activities aimed at highlighting the versatility of Gran Canaria cheeses in haute cuisine, identify future talent and serve as inspiration for current chefs. This initiative reinforces the destination's commitment to promoting culinary creativity and promoting the excellence of its products..
They will only be admitted to the competition bites with cheese, that is to say, tapas that can be held by hand and/or eaten without difficulty in a single bite and made with the cheeses mentioned later. Miniature dishes will not be accepted.. Failure to comply with this requirement will lead to disqualification and will be communicated to the participant..
Savory or sweet snacks may be entered into competition., that are prepared and have as their main ingredient, one or more of the cheeses indicated below: artisan cheeses made in Gran Canaria, including those of the PDO Queso de Guía, Half Flor de Guía Cheese and Flor de Guía Cheese – https://www.quesosdegrancanaria.com/
Recipes must be sent accompanied by:
- Complete technical sheet: Detailed ingredients and manufacturing process.
- High resolution photography (minimum 300 ppp, .jpg format) of the finished dish.
- Participant identification data: name and surname, email, telephone and work center (and apply).
All this documentation must be sent by email to paula@grupgsr.com (to Paula's attention).
And technical committee designated by Madrid Fusion Foods of Spain will select the six best recipes received to compete in the final of the contest.
