Makro's Tenerife Distribution Center, located in La Laguna, has the capacity to serve 900 daily orders from the island's hoteliers

Macro, leading company in multichannel wholesale distribution to hospitality, has announced the opening of its Tenerife Distribution Center, the first in Canary Islands and the second of its kind in Spain. With this new infrastructure, the company seeks to reinforce the coverage of its Hospitality Distribution Service on the island of Tenerife, reaching more customers, in less time.

The opening of the Distribution Center Tenerife, in which Macro has invested more than 7 million euros, marks a milestone in the company's strategy to offer a superior distribution service to hospitality professionals and underlines the firm commitment of Macro with the growth and efficiency of the hospitality sector on the islands.

Con 3.000 square meters of surface and six loading docks, The center has a distribution capacity of up to 900 daily orders, leaning, among others, in last-mile electric trucks to minimize environmental impact and ensure deliveries at the doorstep of hospitality businesses. Its multi-temperature space allows you to store more than 1.800 dry feed assortment pallets, refrigerated, frozen and ultra fresh (fruits, vegetables and meat) and some 1.500 references that concentrate the 80 % of the units most in demand by Makro customers.

Besides, with the aim of reducing energy consumption, the Distribution Center Tenerife It has state-of-the-art refrigeration facilities free of fluorinated gases., that optimize their performance.

The inauguration of this center was attended by David Mille Pomposo, general director of Commerce and Consumption of the Government of the Canary Islands; Manuel Fernandez Vega, Island Industry Councilor, Trade, Primary Sector and Animal Welfare of the Cabildo of Tenerife and Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, mayor of La Laguna, among other representatives of the sector. This new infrastructure is part of the transformation plan for the logistics network of Macro at the national level, which aims to promote the growth of its Hospitality Distribution Service and maximize its efficiency.

Soon, Makro will continue to expand this network with a third regional platform in Andalusia.

Besides, The company has two distribution centers in Leganés (Madrid) and La Laguna (Tenerife) and is working to convert its stores into multichannel centers that can respond to orders from the Hospitality Distribution Service where there is no distribution center..
