The fair brought together more than 11.000 visitors during a weekend dedicated to local products and the gastronomy of Gran Canaria
The Gran Canaria Fair I Like It It closed its 13th edition this Sunday with more than 11.000 visitors and high public participation throughout the weekend. Quote, held from Friday to Sunday at the Agüimes Fairgrounds, once again placed local products and the island's gastronomy at the center of its programming.
The event brought together producers, agri-food companies, chefs, institutions and family audiences around an offer focused on the primary sector, local consumption and the culinary identity of Gran Canaria. The fair was held this year in a new location and with a smaller space than in previous editions., due to the upcoming works planned in Infecar, Gran Canaria Fair, but it maintained a notable influx of visitors.
For three days, the venue hosted tastings, tastings, children's workshops, informative activities and gastronomic exhibitions in which products such as cheeses played a leading role, the wines, the potatoes, honey, the coffee, the meats, tropical fruits, sugar cane, rum or cider made on the island.
One of the axes of this edition was the promotion of the Gran Canaria primary sector. Farmers, ranchers, Local fishermen and producers found in the fair a showcase to show the diversity and quality of the island's food., in addition to bringing the value of local consumption closer to the public.
Island-produced meats also occupied a prominent space within the program. The public was able to learn about proposals linked to beef, the white pig, the lamb, the baifo, the rabbit, the chicken and hen of Gran Canaria, in addition to activities focused on the island's beef and its harmonization with PDO Gran Canaria wines.
Family programming was once again one of the fair's strong points. The children's workshops allowed boys and girls to get closer to cooking with local products through participatory activities, simple recipes, fruit tastings and activities aimed at promoting healthy eating habits.
The primary sector space and activities linked to gastronomic dissemination also registered a high participation. Proposals such as breakfasts with local products, Commented tastings and samples of foods from land and sea allowed the public to discover the agri-food wealth of Gran Canaria from a close and educational perspective..
Promoted and financed by the Cabildo of Gran Canaria and organized by Infecar, Gran Canaria Fair, The fair had Cajasiete as an official collaborator, the collaboration of the Gran Canaria Me Gusta project, the Chamber of Commerce of Gran Canaria and the Agüimes City Council, in addition to the sponsorship of SPAR Gran Canaria and Equipatel.
With this 13th edition, Gran Canaria Me Gusta once again consolidated itself as a reference event for local product, the island kitchen and the primary sector, reinforcing its role as a gastronomic and agri-food showcase of Gran Canaria.
