The Kitchen Management student, Carlota Mallorquin, will be measured against six other candidates in Zaragoza, after passing the selection phase and the semi-final

Carlota Mallorquin, student of School of the Canary Islands Hotels (Hecansa), center registered with the Ministry of Tourism and Employment, competed in the final of the MasterD Cooking and Pastry Contest which took place in Zaragoza.

The student in the Kitchen Management program became a finalist after beating others 100 applicants from all over Spain in the selection phases and in the semifinal, where he had to present two dishes, one salty and one sweet.

The first preparation consisted of a fake cannoli filled with lamb ribs stewed in its own sauce., accompanied by a foam of cured cheese and walnuts, and seasoned with a saffron lactose. For dessert, made a Paris Brest filled with raspberry cream, matcha tea mousse, dipped in white chocolate and peta zeta.

With these original creations, Mallorquín will compete in the final against six other finalists from different cities in the country, that will have 2 hours and 30 minutes to prepare your dishes. The jury, formed by chefs of recognized international prestige, as Susi Díaz (1 Michelin star), Cristian Palacios (1 Michelin star and 1 sol Repsol), Antonio Arrabal or Paco Torreblanca (Best Pastry Chef in the World 2022), will choose the winner according to flavor criteria, originality, presentation and display of dishes.

The CEO of Hecansa, Paola Plasencia, congratulated the finalist for her great work, that “visualizes the high level of Hoteles Escuela de Canarias, of his students, that makes its excellent teaching staff possible every day”. Besides, He stressed that “at Hecansa we try to involve students in regional and national competitions that can help them in their training and encourage them.”.
