The 34th edition of the Km Fair.0 Gran Canaria has opened its doors today in the Agüimes Fairgrounds with the objective of promoting the primary sector that, as explained by the president of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, Antonio Morales, during its inauguration, “It is key for our territory, to protect the landscape, to generate employment, eat fresher, reduce the ecological footprint or fight fires”.

Promoted and financed by the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, organized by Infect, Gran Canaria Fair and co-organized by the Agüimes City Council, This 34th edition of the exhibition welcomes this weekend 60 stands, being of them a total of 58 stands of farmers and producers 14 municipalities of the island, accompanied by the program Gran Canaria I like it, the Chamber of Commerce of Gran Canaria, Gran Canaria Tourism and the Canarian Institute of Agri-Food Quality (ICCA).

The host municipality, Agüimes, is the one that has brought the most stallholders to this meeting regarding agri-food products, specifically to ten wine and cheese producers; specialists in leg preparation, microgreens growers, beer makers and representatives of the Salinas de Bocabarranco.

Among the new features of this edition is the incorporation of Coffee Funghi, a producer from Gáldar that bases its activity on a circular economy model focused on the revaluation of coffee grounds collected in establishments in the municipality. This waste becomes the substrate with which they grow varieties such as oyster mushrooms., shiitake and lion's mane, that they sell both fresh and through derived products, including an organic coffee made together with Café Ortega. The company offers, besides, self-cultivation kits and informative workshops on their farm to bring the production process closer to the public and promote local mycological culture.
