Half a dozen chefs from the islands have shone at a high level in the edition 2025 from Clandestinos, the great rice event in the heart of L'Albufera

Valencia has once again beaten to the rhythm of fire and rice. In the heart of the Albufera Natural Park, the edition 2025 of Clandestinos #LoveArroz has brought together hundreds of chefs, producers and lovers of gastronomy who share the same devotion: that of rice as a symbol of identity, culture and territory.

Among the attendees, half a dozen Canarian chefs who have once again demonstrated that the islands are on par with the best rice cooks in the country. Ariel Alpizar, from Fuerteventura, Nicolas Betancor (Gran Canaria), Lázaro Rodríguez and Javier Escobar (Tenerife) and Luis Benito and Gonzalo Calzadilla, from Lanzarote have been the displaced canaries.

Quote, wrapped in its usual air of mystery—without revealing the exact location until the last moment—, has transformed the rice fields into an unrepeatable gastronomic scene. More than 700 attendees gathered for this experience that combines cuisine, nature and social consciousness, consolidating Valencia as the world capital of rice.

Clandestinos is not a typical gastronomic event. It is a contemporary ritual that celebrates the connection between origin and innovation. Between the aroma of wood and the sound of the water of the Albufera, dozens of chefs from all over Spain – and also from other corners of the world – reinterpreted the rice tradition with modern techniques and surprising proposals.
From the most purist rice dishes to creations that break the mold, The meeting served to remember that Valencian rice continues to be an inspiration without borders.
