The Agrocanarias Wine Competition 2025 This edition has had the participation of a total 227 samples from 60 Canarian wineries that have presented their productions to this contest with the aim of winning the award for the best wine in the Canary Islands, among other distinctions and prizes that are awarded each year within the framework of this initiative organized by the Canary Institute of Agri-Food Quality (ICCA), Autonomous Agency assigned to the Ministry of Agriculture, Cattle raising, Fisheries and Food Sovereignty of the Government of the Canary Islands, and that in this call it has the collaboration of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fishing of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura.

During the opening ceremony of the Official Agrocanarias Wine Competition 2025, the Minister of Agriculture, Cattle raising, Fisheries and Food Sovereignty, Narvay Quintero, He was accompanied by the president of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, Lola Garcia; the insular advisor of Agriculture, Marias Pena; the mayor of Puerto del Rosario, David de Vera, and the general director of Livestock, Andrés Díaz Matoso.

He also highlighted the increase in DOP grape production recorded on the island in recent years., “so that in 2024 were collected 19.802 kilos versus 14.922 kilos of 2023 and the 6.000 kilos of 2020, which translates into an increase in 230 % and of 148,7% respectively in relation to 2020, and highlights the rise of this crop, present on the island for many years and that is being recovered”.

This contest promotes and gives visibility to the wines of the islands' wineries., based on the criteria of specialists with the aim of supporting its commercialization.

Depending on the type of grape and the production method, The wines are divided into different categories, including young dry whites/barrel-fermented whites (92), young reds/barrel reds (67), semidulces (29), dry rosés (13), sweets (8), sparkling (6), sweet malvasias (5), breeding (3), semisecos (2), of tea (1) and liquor (1). All these productions correspond, according to the rules of the competition, to the harvest of 2023 o 2024, except for the breeding, teas, sweets, sparkling wines and sweet malvasias.

Under the blind tasting system, twenty-two tasters specializing in the analysis of agri-food products will score the samples without knowing their origin to award, through your reviews, the big gold medals, gold medals and silver medals.
