The first edition of THELOBBY – Hotel & Gastro Talks, in it Forum Lab del Gastronomic Forum Barcelona. The new professional meeting promoted by Food Design Company and which celebrates its first edition bringing together some of the main leaders in the hotel industry, gastronomy and premium cocktails from all over Spain.

With the concept of “the lobby as a space where meetings occur and paths cross”, the day, driven by Sara Morillo, travel journalist and gastronomic communication consultant, became a space for reflection and inspiration where voices such as Paco Morales (Noor, 3 Michelin stars), Paolo Casagrande (Lasarte, 3 Michelin stars), Inés Miró-Sans (Bonay House), Juan Carlos Padron (2 + 1 Michelin stars) o José Miguel Herrero (Director of Food of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fishing and food) among others.

The ceremony continued with the presentation of the three main awards, that recognize innovation, Creativity and experience management in contemporary hospitality.

Award for Best Gastronomic Hotel in Spain: Hotel Akelarre (San Sebastian), edelivered by Carlos Hernandez, director of Food Design Company.

A recognition of the excellence of a project that fuses architecture, territory and haute cuisine under the vision of the chef Pedro Subijana, that his daughter picked up, Ohiana Subijana, Mistress of Maison del hotel.

Best Hotel Lobby Award: The Madrid EDITION (Madrid), edelivered by Marina Mateu, Director of Communication Perelada Chivite Group.

The jury highlighted his way of turning the lobby into an experiential epicenter where gastronomy, art and design dialogue organically at the EDITION headquarters in the capital.

Award for Best Director of F&B from Spain: Victor Caride, of the royal Hideaway Corales Resort (Tenerife), delivered by Eduardo Serrano, president of AIDABE.

His exemplary leadership, team vision and ability to integrate sustainability, local product and operational excellence earned recognition for Victor Caride in charge of the hotel with the most Michelin stars and the most Repsol suns in Spain.

Besides, All finalists received a plaque of recognition for their contribution to promoting the national gastronomic hotel industry..

Before moving on to the main categories, THELOBBY surprised the public with the delivery of the Barcelona Tribute Award to Contemporary Hospitality, a special award that recognizes the pioneering vision and independent spirit of Bonay House, for his contribution to a new way of understanding urban hospitality.

The award was presented by Pep Palau, content director of Gastronomic Forum Barcelona, and collected by Inés Miró-Sans, co-founder of Bonay House.

“Casa Bonay has inspired a new generation of hotels due to its ability to organically merge, and in the same lobby, a genuine local flavor, a rich cultural proposal and a contemporary vision of luxury that transcends accommodation to become a living community space, of gastronomy and creativity”.

During the official welcome, THELOBBY team, underlined the purpose of the project:

“THELOBBY was born to connect three worlds that have always been close, but they needed a common space where they could be inspired: luxury hospitality, haute cuisine and premium cocktails.”

The event was supported by AIDABE, Celebrate Barcelona, Perelada Chivite Group, Barcelo Hotels and his own Gastronomic Forum Barcelona, consolidating Barcelona as the protagonist of the conversation between haute hospitality and haute cuisine.
