A honey from Florencio Gutiérrez de Tedera and packaged with the brand 'The Producer' has been the winner of the Grand Golden Cell Award the best honey from the Canary Islands 2025 with Designation of origin Honey from Tenerife, in it 29th Regional Conference on Honey, organized by the Primary Sector Department of the Cabildo de Tenerife.
The other maximum prize, Great Golden Cell for the best honey of the year in the Canary Islands his DOP, fell into one fennel honey from El Sauzal produced by Benigno Díaz.
The advisor responsible for the area, Valentín González, highlights “the great quality of the honeys that have participated in this edition”, emphasizing that “we must recognize the great effort made by beekeepers, who have produced excellent quality products, despite adverse circumstances, marks due to the consequences that they still carry from the fire in the summer of 2023 and the persistent drought.
A total of 52 yeast, from the islands of Tenerife, The Palm, The iron, La Gomera, Gran Canaria and Lanzarote, in the soft multifloral categories, medium and intense, agave, Tajinaste, tedera, honeydew and various monoflorals.
The jury has evaluated the honeys during a tasting, in which not only the flavor has been taken into account, but also the presentation of the samples.
