The local product as a commercial claim

"Telde tastes like cheese" was born with a double purpose: give visibility to one of the most characteristic products of Gran Canaria gastronomy and attract visitors to the businesses of San Gregorio.

The Minister of Economic Development of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, Minerva Alonso, He explained during the presentation that the initiative seeks to take advantage of the gastronomic appeal of cheese to promote the activity of surrounding establishments..

«We want people to come, walk its streets, "Enjoy the day and may all this movement also have an impact on our businesses and establishments.", pointed out.

The initiative is incorporated into a program of activities that has been using gastronomy as an element of commercial revitalization in the center of Telde.

Background information includes «Nights that taste like Telde», whose third edition brought together restaurant establishments this year, Gran Canaria wineries and musical performances, and the Canary Islands Day Gastronomic Days, in which a dozen businesses participated with proposals made from local products.

In this case, the focus falls specifically on the cheese, a product that allows connecting the activity of the island's cheese factories with the hotel and commercial offer of the city.

A commercial area with close to 90 establishments

The celebration coincides with a new stage of the Association of Businessmen of the Telde Open Commercial Zone, which this week has presented its renewed identity and a campaign aimed at strengthening its presence and attracting new associates.

The entity currently brings together about 90 establishments linked to local trade and services.

"Telde tastes like cheese" is organized with the collaboration of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, the Association of Businessmen of the Open Commercial Zone, the Chamber of Commerce of Gran Canaria and the Telde City Council.

The event thus proposes a day in which the island's cheeses will share the spotlight with the restaurants and commercial activity of San Gregorio., in a format that seeks to attract audiences to the urban center through gastronomy.
