He IX Gastronomic Fair of the Canary Islands, Gastrocanarias, already running at cruising speed after the first day. And he does it with the island of The Gracious as the protagonist while in this edition the island is invited to the event that takes place in the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Fairgrounds.
The president of the Government of the Canary Islands attended the opening ceremony, Fernando Clavijo, the president of the Cabildo of Tenerife, Rosa Dávila; the Minister of Agriculture, Cattle raising, Fisheries and Food Sovereignty of the Government of the Canary Islands; Narvay Quintero, the mayor of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, José Manuel Bermúdez y, among other authorities, the president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort.
Precisely the president of Lanzarote, and administratively also from La Graciosa, said at the inauguration that “this is a unique opportunity to show everyone Canary Islands and to the rest of the world the gastronomic idiosyncrasies and delicacies of our Eighth Island, and one of the mandatory products in the Canary Islands Absolute Chefs Championship 2024, what is the already famous hake like? The inaugural presentation, coordinated by Taste Lanzarote like the rest of the presence of chefs and producers from the easternmost islands, was also starred by The Gracious, with the history of its dry jareas, their salting, their mojos and their ways of preserving coastal fish. Throughout the three days of duration, the IX Gastronomic Fair of the Canary Islands, under the direction of José Carlos Marrero, will accommodate more than 300 activities, including a dozen regional championships.
