The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, This Tuesday he visited the spaces on the island that Taste Lanzarote has installed in Madrid Fusion. He has done it since early in the morning with time to attend to the protagonists displaced to IFEMA, where the largest gastronomy event in the country and one of the main international events is held. We were able to chat with him at one point during the visit..
Canarian dish -The presence of the president of the Cabildo in Madrid Fusión, How should it be interpreted?
Oswaldo Betancort -By ratifying my support for the value chain that involves the presence of producers, restaurateurs and the entire economic chain that the sector represents. We are going to try to strengthen tourism that is interested in gastronomy taking into account that the 83% of the repeater is largely influenced by the gastronomic offer offered on the island and the quality of the product of the primary sector. The idea, besides, is that all the products that come from Lanzarote are treated as gourmet and to be able to promote them internationally.
PC -How do you see the actors in the sector displaced to Madrid Fusión?
OB -Every year there is greater attendance and more awareness in taking advantage of this fair. Lanzarote has to be in this event of enormous international projection. We have to sell ourselves not only as a tourist destination, but as a destination with gastronomy and a unique and quality product
PC -Will you take the opportunity to consolidate the island as a venue for gastronomic events??
OB -I have two meetings planned to try to build loyalty in events related to gastronomic excellence and oenology.. We have growing spaces that distinguish us, like Jable or La Geria, and with enormous landscape and environmental values to be shown to the world. Always with the premise of respect for the natural environment ahead.
