The Government of the Canary Islands will have a stand at the 39 edition of the fair, which will be celebrated from 13 al 16 April and in which the seven Councils and companies of the islands will be represented
The Minister of Agriculture, Cattle raising, Fisheries and Food Sovereignty of the regional Executive, Narvay Quintero, will participate this Monday, 13 of April, in the official opening of the 39th Madrid Gourmets Show, chaired by the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food of the Government of Spain, Luis Planas Puchades, which will take place at 11:00 hours at IFEMA, In Madrid.
Posteriorly, the head of the department, accompanied by the director of the Canarian Institute of Agri-Food Quality (ICCA), Luis Arraez Guadalupe, and the CEO of Rural Environment Management of the Canary Islands (GMR Canarias), Juan Antonio Alonso, will visit the Canary Islands stand at this event, main international professional meeting of quality food and beverages, in which companies from the agricultural and agri-food sector of the archipelago and the seven Cabildos participate hand in hand with the Government of the Canary Islands, through the ICCA, GMR Canarias, Proexca and the General Directorate of Fisheries, to promote and boost the marketing of its most exclusive productions.
Previously, Quintero will participate (in it Pavilion 3. Post 3A50), at 10:00 hours, at the presentation of the first edition of the “Tacomanía” Championship of Mexican tacos by IGP Aguacate de Canarias, which will give way to the presentations “IGP Avocado from the Canary Islands: importance and value of the registry” and “Differentiating excellences of the PGI Aguacate de Canarias”, scheduled at 10:00 y 10:30 hours, respectively. Posteriorly, at 11:00 hours, the draw will take place for the order of participation in the contest, which will begin the 11:30 hours. This proposal is one of the novelties of this edition of Gourmets, what, with the support of the Canarian Executive, seeks to highlight this Canarian production that since 2025 has a quality seal.
The archipelago's stand at the meeting has an area of 528 square meters and has different exhibition areas where Canarian companies in the gourmet food sector and island corporations will offer, under the coordination of ICCA, presentations, tastings, valorization workshops and promotional activities for their productions, in addition to the organization of commercial meetings.
The fair will also host the celebration, on tuesday 14, of the “Canary Islands Day” with a program aimed at highlighting the uniqueness of the local product through gastronomic experiences, commented tastings and culinary demonstrations, coordinated by GMR Canarias and the General Directorate of Fisheries. The attendance of the Vice-Minister of the Primary Sector of the Government of the Canary Islands is planned., Eduardo Garcia, and the general director of Fisheries, Esteban Reyes.
