The Business Association organizes this event that highlights the gofio, of the 6 al 8 of November, with the participation of seven establishments

A total of seven establishments in the open commercial areas of San Gregorio and San Juan, and Telde, They participate this year in the VIII Gofio Gastronomic Day, an initiative promoted by the San Gregorio Business Association with financing from the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, through the Gran Canaria Me Gusta program to promote and boost the consumption of this local product so deeply rooted in the Canarian gastronomic culture.
The sessions will be held during the days 6, 7 y 8 of November, and the establishments participating in this edition are: La Tunera, Oasis Chill Out, Cinnamon, Melián Churrería, Viva Cafe, Antequera Pickle, and Ca Nerea –the latter located in the ZCA of San Juan–.
Each one will offer original and creative culinary proposals with gofio as the main ingredient - from a fish scald with gofio to a cheese and gofio cake or some churros.- maintaining the traditional essence but exploring new gastronomic trends to surprise the public.

The presentation took place this Tuesday at the Youth House, with the presence of the Minister of Economic Development of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, Minerva Alonso; the mayor of Telde, Juan Antonio Peña and the president of the ZCA Natividad Suárez.

During his intervention, Minerva Alonso highlighted the importance of initiatives like this, that combine gastronomy, cultural identity and support for the local fabric: “These days are an example of how innovation and tradition can go hand in hand.”. Gofio is part of our history, but also a product with infinite culinary possibilities. And when we put it at the service of local restaurants, we generate value, economic dynamization and pride in our own product”.

The counselor invited citizens to tour the participating establishments and “discover the talent of the restaurateurs who, every year, they are surpassed with new proposals”.

For your part, The mayor stressed that this initiative “not only boosts consumption in the businesses of the Open Commercial Zones, but it reinforces the link between the citizens of Telde and a product that is part of our identity”.

The conference once again has the collaboration of the emblematic Molino de Fuego, island reference in gofio production, whose history dates back to January 1903. Your participation symbolizes the origin and continuity of a tradition that is still alive and growing..

Gofio continues to be present in Canarian homes thanks to its nutritional properties, its versatility, its low cost and its strong cultural roots, remaining one of the most representative products of the gastronomic heritage of the Archipelago.
