A total of 28 olive oils participate in the Official Competition Agrocanarias 2024, and 75% more than last year
He La Peña Viewpoint, in The iron, welcomed today Wednesday, 31 January, he Official Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition Agrocanarias 2024, competition organized by the Department of Agriculture, Cattle raising, Fisheries and Food Sovereignty of the Government of the Canary Islands, through the Canarian Institute of Agri-Food Quality (ICCA), that sees increased participation in a 75% compared to last year, with a total of 28 productions that compete to become the Best Oil of the Archipelago of this eighth edition.
Las 28 samples come from 17 oil mills (in front of the 16, of 11 oil mills of 2023) and are distributed in 13 of Fuerteventura (eight companies), six of Gran Canaria (three companies), four of Tenerife (of companies), three of The Palm (of companies), one of The iron (a company) and one of Lanzarote (a company).
The competition is governed by a blind tasting system. So, the tasting committee, formed 11 tasters specialized in the analysis of agri-food products, evaluates samples without knowing their origin.
