He XI Gastronomic Fair of the Canary Islands – GastroCanarias 2026 closed several of its professional championships with new names in disciplines linked to the bar, the bakery and breakfasts. The competitions were held at the Heineken and Cabildo de Tenerife stages., with tests focused on technique, creativity and quality of service.
In it 11º Heineken Grand Prix Canary Islands Beer Draft Championship, the winner was Carolina Oliva, in a test with 34 participants where aspects such as the preparation of the glass were assessed, the draft, removal of excess foam and presentation. They completed the podium Diego Armando Padrón y Claire Elise Lázaro.
Cocktails also had a leading role in GastroCanarias. Jhonatan Martínez won the 13º Canary Islands Classic Cocktail Championship Grand Prix Royal Bliss, ahead of Yeray González y Diego Armando Padrón. In acrobatic mode, Alessandro Soldatini prevailed in the 11º Canary Islands Acrobatic Cocktail Championship Gran Premio Ladrón, followed by Mario Andres Soto y Giuseppe Sarinella.
In the first edition of Canary Islands Artisanal Canarian Bakery Championship Haricana Grand Prize, the winners were Ivan Negrin, by Negrín Artisan, in artisan bread; Pablo Matallana, of Masamami, in creative bread; y Bianca Maria, from The Baker's House, in artesano crescent.
The breakfast section left as the winner Tino Gonzalez, of Hovima Suites Costa Adeje, in it I Canary Islands Breakfast Toast Championship Gran Premio GastroCanarias & Europastry. His proposal combined corn and turmeric bread with beef carpaccio and cured cheese from Fuerteventura. Second place went to Paloma Garcia and the third for Jorge Garcia.
With these contests, GastroCanarias once again highlighted trades and formats that are an essential part of the hospitality industry: good beer service, the cocktail bar, artisan bread, pastries and creative breakfast proposals.
