La Palma is welcoming, promoted by the Cabildo of La Palma, the official second level training of the prestigious Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET), one of the most recognized certifications worldwide in the professionalization of the wine and gastronomic sector.

This action is developed thanks to the commitment of the Cabildo of La Palma, through the Ministry of Agriculture and the public company Sodepal, through the Saborea La Palma project, to improve training in the gastronomic sector, fundamental sector in island economic development.

The Minister of Economic Promotion of the Cabildo of La Palma, MIRIAM PERESTELO, has assured that “we have made a notable effort, with very outstanding results, in the promotion of our gastronomic sector, positioning it in the most important fairs nationwide”, but “we are aware” of the need “to work on the training of our professionals”.

With that idea, “We reached an agreement with Canarias Wine Academy”, center accredited by WSET in the Archipelago that is collaborating with this initiative, “to offer top-level courses, with international recognition”, the counselor has stressed, who has reported that after successfully developing the first level course, “We wanted to go one step further with the start of second level training”, coasting from the Cabildo of La Palma the 50% of registration to all registered.

In the two WSET courses in La Palma, first and second level, some participate 30 professionals, that they will transfer the training they are receiving to their establishments or to the La Palma Wine Regulatory Council itself..

WSET, founded in 1969 in London, is the main global reference in education on wines and spirits. It is present in more than 70 countries and has trained more than a million students.
