More than 550 kilos of lamb tapas, the country's cheeses and wines, music and children's activities starred in the meeting 'Between lambs and stoves’
The aroma, the flavor, the music, tradition and the commitment to local products went up to Tejeda today to star in the great festive day within the IX Gastronomic Days 'Entre Corderos y Fogones', an initiative promoted by the Ministry of Primary Sector, Food Sovereignty and Water Security of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria and the Association of Artisanal Cheese Producers of the Northwest of Gran Canaria (I am coming) with the collaboration of the town councils of Santa María de Guía, Galdar, the Village of Moya and Tejeda.
The day took place in the heart of the Cumbrero municipality and was inaugurated by the president of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, Antonio Morales, together with the Primary Sector counselor, Miguel Hidalgo, the mayor of Tejeda, Francisco Juan Perera, the president of Proquenor, Jose de la Cruz Mendoza, and representatives of collaborating municipalities.
Today's event was designed for all palates and it offered more than 550 kilos of lamb tapas that, next to the cheese tapas, They were offered at three euros per unit. Besides, They could be accompanied by wines from the Peña Rajada and Bentayga wineries in Tejeda., as well as with carnival tortillas and sweets, as is traditional in a meeting that rotates through the collaborating municipalities and in which children's activities were not lacking either., and various musical performances, like that of the verser Yeray Rodríguez.
“It is a party to encourage local products that have the full support of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria”, stated, Antonio Morales, who received recognition in the form of a Canarian knife and a plaque from Proquenor for his “commitment and closeness to the livestock sector”.

In addition to this great celebration, since last day 17 November and during the three following weekends, A promotional campaign for Gran Canaria lamb is underway, in which they participate 18 restaurants (seven of Gáldar, four of Moya, three from Santa María de Guía and four from Tejeda), whose chefs cook dishes made with this product for their clients, which is expected to be consumed around 1.755 kilos. The data from the Cabildo and Proquenor reflect that the different editions of 'Entre Corderos y Fogones' are being a stimulus for the livestock and cheese sector, since since these days of valorization of local lamb began, The quantities have increased by more than 50%, according to data from Mataderos Insulares de Gran Canaria, the public company of the Cabildo that also collaborates with the organization of this event.
The conferences are within the framework of the Strategic Plan for the Primary Sector of Gran Canaria of the Cabildo focused, on the one hand, in the valorization of the local product and, on the other hand, in the diversification of resources for the island livestock sector, with the consequent improvement in the profitability of their operations. It joins the Island Plan for the Development of Sustainable Livestock to improve the competitiveness of the rural world through training, technology transfer, advice and aid to the primary sector.
