The chef Aridani Alonso, of Romantic House (Agaete, Gran Canaria), was elected this past Monday, at the 'Guía Qué Bueno Canarias' gala’, that took place in the Jameos del Agua, in Lanzarote, Best Chef in the Canary Islands 2025, distinction that was given to him by the president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, and the advisor of Tourist Centers of the same Cabildo, Angel Vazquez.
This award is a consequence of an unstoppable culinary progression produced at Casa Romántica in the last two years., in which Aridani, together with the owner and director of the restaurant, Victor Lugo, has configured highly creative Canarian cuisine based almost entirely on the 250.000 m2 of own properties.
with the fruits, the vegetables, the vegetables, the tubers, citrus, refined cheeses maison, own winery (The Berrazales) and the unique coffee of Finca La Laja (the northernmost in the world), also counting on the intimate collaboration of local ranchers and fishermen, Alonso and Lugo have managed to close the circle of sustainability and gastronomic and environmental excellence.
All of this, expressed in a very contemporary way in two large tasting menus, two vegetarian and one vegan tasting menus, these last three elaborated 100% with products from their farms.
With this award, Aridani Alonso and Vítor Lugo tackle an exciting 2025 of new projects, culinary and strong consolidation is committed to sustainable proximity which places them at the top of the gastronomy of Gran Canaria, of the Canary archipelago and all of Spain.
