The Padrón Brothers, Jordi Cruz, the kitchens of the Mid-Atlantic and the best of the product and the kitchens of the island, among the highlights of the 10th Saborea Lanzarote Food and Wine Festival
The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, presented this Tuesday in the Nivaria room of the Iberostar Heritage Grand Mencey hotel in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the 10th edition of the Savor Lanzarote Food and Wine Festival to be held in the Real Villa de Teguise on 25 y 26 of November.
The president of the Lanzarote Cabildo highlighted that Saborea Lanzarote is presented outside the island, although the official call will take place next 14 November in Lanzarote. «We are talking about an event that was born in 2010 and that year after year it consolidated itself as the island's food and wine meeting forum to become a fundamental part of the image change and economic boost for Lanzarote., but also of the Canary Islands as a gastronomic and tourist destination».
«Today we are here to present you the most ambitious proposal, and I hope successful, of all editions of Saborea Lanzarote. And I assure you that it is the most ambitious because this year we will set a milestone in our work to promote the gastronomy of Lanzarote and La Graciosa., and in its positioning as a renowned culinary destination, and we will do it hand in hand with the sector", highlighted the president of the Cabildo in the presentation of the event, attended by the vice president of the Government of the Canary Islands, Manuel Dominguez, the regional Minister of Agriculture, Narvay Quintero, the mayor of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, José Manuel Bermúdez, the CACT advisor, Angel Vazquez, the deputy mayor of Teguise, Eugenio Robayna, and the president of the Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, Jose Valle.
The role of Art Centers, Culture and Tourism
The Art Centers, Culture and Tourism (CACT) will take on special prominence in this new edition. As expressed by the CEO of the CACT, Angel Vazquez, We are fulfilling the commitment of the president of the Cabildo so that the event returns to Teguise. Besides, «it will do so with a very special staging of the Centers, "which will be the spearhead to promote a festival that will show the pride and quality of the CACT restoration network in an exhibition space unprecedented in any of the previous editions.".
This edition of Saborea Lanzarote celebrates its tenth anniversary, although its beginnings were in the year 2010, and after 3 years without celebrating, returns at the end of November with more force than ever to the Historical Complex of the Town of Teguise, where different spaces will be installed: in addition to the Canary Islands stand, there will be a Taste Spain space, another from Saborea Atlántico Medio, The House and the Canarian Product Market and the Classrooms of Taste, of Wine, of Cheese and other local products that will have as guests great names in national and international cuisine.
The Saborea Atlántico Medio space presents Porto as a guest city, who attends this event with four restaurants, two of them with Michelin stars, and that will take us to know the gastronomy of the Portuguese city, Madeira and Cape Verde will also be there with their respective cuisines, a tour of the gastronomic attributes of our closest environment.
The House and the Canarian Product Market, It is a space where you can take a tour through a Canary Islands wine and cheese tunnel., represented by a winery and an association of cheesemakers from each island, an immersion in our gastronomic jewels. Besides, a wine classroom, another about cheese and another about products in general that will make those who visit us have a greater knowledge of our gastronomic culture.
The Classroom of Taste will have an intense program throughout the weekend, like more than 10 sessions and where you can count on the most prestigious faces of our national gastronomy, including the canary, with the Padrón Brothers, with two stars, and with Jordi Cruz, among others, with three Michelin stars.
The figures from the last edition held
During the 15 hours of operation of this food and wine festival in the latest edition of 2019, They passed through the grounds of La Villa de Teguise more than 25.000 people and more than 165.000 tastings that generated income around 220.000 euros for those over 100 present exhibitors.
They participated in 2019 some 70 catering establishments, with representation of five establishments in Lisbon, 10 from the Canary Islands and 5 national destinations, 12 wineries on the island and about six from the rest of the Canary Islands; more than 20 producers, sponsors, chefs in the classrooms, a participation that occupied the entire center of Teguise, making it, for those two days, in the gastronomic city of Spain.
