The dean of the Canary Islands press distinguishes Alexis García in the rest of the categories, Kensei-Contemporary Japanese, Zulay Pastry Bakery, Romantic House, Patricia Perdomo, The Climb, by Begoña Rodrigo and Juan Echanove
The chef Pedro Nel Restrepo Osorio and his entire team could not hide their excitement upon learning, this sunday, day 23 of June, that the Santacrucero establishment has been considered as Best Restaurant of the 39 National Awards “Diario de Notices”, as it appeared published in the aforementioned Tenerife newspaper along with the rest of the award winners.
Another milestone reached, therefore, the gastronomic space of the head chef of Colombian origin and based in Canary Islands that at the beginning of 2024 collected in Cartagena the statuette that credits the santacrucero restaurant with Two Suns of the Repsol Guide.
Restrepo stated that “any recognition is an impetus to continue persevering in the demanding world of restoration but that, however, receive recognition from the jury chaired by the journalist Jose Luis Conde “It far exceeds any expectations and it is an honor for us to have it in our showcases.”.
In this sense, the chef of Etéreo highlighted that the advances in excellence achieved so far “reward, one and all, the commitment that we have acquired for more than five years towards the definition of friendly cuisine and for the satisfaction of diners; arguments that, we firmly believe, “They benefit Tenerife society”.
“After so many years we find this news,” he added., a surprise that gives us another seal of quality to our daily work and that recognizes the effort and dedication. This great impact for us closes the cover of a book that we started writing many years ago.; the recognition, wherever it comes from it's nice, but we do not strive to be rewarded because what is relevant is the gratitude on the part of those who visit us, since that is really our reason for being for us”.

The jury of XXXIX National Gastronomy Awards, the oldest delivered by a Spanish media, has decided to award the following awards that will be presented at a gala to be celebrated next 15 of July, at 19.30 hours, in the Auditorium of El Sauzal, in Tenerife: Manuel Iglesias Award, Alexis Garcia; Best National Restaurant Award, The Climb, by Begoña Rodrigo; Best Pastry Work Award, Zulay Pastry Bakery; Best International Restaurant Award, Kensei-Contemporary Japanese; #ConsumeCanario Award, Romantic House in Gran Canaria; Best Work Award in Wines, Patricia Perdomo, and Best Dissemination of Gastronomy, Juan Echanove.
