The Government of the Canary Islands provides training on Canary wine to the restaurant sector of Lanzarote and La Graciosa

The Canarian Institute of Agri-Food Quality (ICCA), Autonomous Agency assigned to the Ministry of Agriculture, Cattle raising, Fisheries and Food Sovereignty of the Government of the Canary Islands, has launched a new training session aimed at the restaurant sector of Lanzarote and La Graciosa within the framework of the “Volcanic Treasures” project, held in two sessions, today tuesday, 18 of November, and next monday 24, at the SEDe wine bar in Playa Honda (Lanzarote).

The opening ceremony was attended by counselor Narvay Quintero and the director of the ICCA, Luis Arraez Guadalupe, with the purpose of supporting this initiative to promote Canarian wines of differentiated quality that seeks to introduce into the restaurant sector the productions awarded in the Official Agrocanarias Wine Competitions, as well as pairing proposals with cheeses and other products, to improve customer experience.

In this regard, Quintero pointed out that “training is key to telling the story of our wines and for HORECA channel professionals to act as prescribers of our local productions.”. For this reason, he added, “This activity enriches both the hospitality staff and the visitors.”, since it allows us to value our primary sector and unique and excellent quality products with a strong roots and link with our traditions and landscapes”.

These training days, by sommelier Rasa Strankauskaite, They include wine tastings and tastings aimed at promoting the incorporation of Canarian products of differentiated quality in the menus of the twenty participating restaurants., in addition to serving as inspiration for new gastronomic proposals based on local productions.

Besides, On next Monday, a cheese tasting workshop will be offered with tasting of ten productions accompanied by Canarian wines., with special attention to the contrasts between both preparations.
