Taste Lanzarote and Valladolid City Council sign an agreement to celebrate the regional phase of the National Pinchos and Tapas Contest on the conejera island

He Lanzarote Town Council and the Valladolid City Council have sealed a collaboration agreement for the organization of the first Canary Islands Regional Tapas Competition, an initiative that will allow the best gastronomic talents of the Archipelago to apply for a direct place in the final of the prestigious National Pinchos and Tapas Competition which is celebrated every year in the capital of Valladolid.

The protocol, signed by the Minister of Economic Promotion of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Nori Machín, and the mayor of Valladolid, Jesus Julio Carnero, reinforces the joint positioning of both destinations within the network Taste Spain, with the aim of continuing to build a shared strategy that promotes quality food and wine tourism and gives visibility to local cuisine professionals.

“With this alliance, we take an important step in promoting the kilometer zero product, of Canarian talent and our capacity as a top-level gastronomic destination”, says counselor Nori Machín, who also highlights that “cuisine is a great ambassador of our territory, and this regional competition will be a platform to promote the chefs of the Canary Islands, with Lanzarote as the promoter headquarters of this opportunity”.

Under the agreement, up to three participants of the regional contest —selected jointly by the management of both events— will be able to compete in the national final phase, which will take place in the last quarter of the year in Valladolid. Thus, Both destinations reinforce their commitment to promoting food and wine tourism, sharing knowledge, good practices and strategies within the Saborea España network, of which both are an active part.

The aim is to position its tourism brands both nationally and internationally., underlining the quality seal of their cuisines and the value of the local recipe book. As part of the agreement, Lanzarote will be the “Collaborative Destiny” official of the Valladolid National Competition, as long as this collaboration between both institutions remains in force.

The Cabildo of Lanzarote celebrates this step as a new way of projecting the island within the national gastronomic panorama.. “We continue to support tourism promotion that connects with authenticity, the identity and what makes us unique”, Machín concludes.
