The Canary Islands reinforces its presence in Alimentaria with companies from the islands, while Gran Canaria and Tenerife present their industries to open new markets
The Canarian agri-food sector once again places itself in the international showcase with its participation in Alimentaria Barcelona 2026, one of the main professional fairs in the food sector, drinks and gastronomy, which is celebrated from 23 al 26 March at Fira Barcelona's Gran Via venue.
The Government of the Canary Islands participates in this edition with its own stand promoted by Management of the Rural Environment of the Canary Islands (GMR Canarias) y Proexca, under the brand Volcanic Xperience. Fifteen companies from the agri-food sector of the archipelago are represented in this space., in addition to other producers whose products are exhibited as part of the promotion of the islands' gastronomic catalog.
The institutional presence seeks to reinforce the market opening strategy for local companies and increase the visibility of the differentiated quality of island productions in the main professional circuits of the food industry.. The institutional stand is conceived as a work and promotion space that combines product exhibition, tastings and business meetings. Among the preparations present are cheeses, mojos, jams, sea salts, remembered, figs, cookies or banana derivatives, representing the gastronomic diversity of the archipelago.
Besides, The Canarian Institute of Agri-Food Quality supports the presence of six organic producers who participate in the space dedicated to this type of production within the fair, expanding the visibility of proposals linked to sustainability and innovation in the primary sector.
The edition of 2026 It also coincides with the 50 Alimentaria anniversary, a room that brings together more than 3.300 companies close to 70 countries and that awaits the visit of some 110.000 sector professionals, consolidating itself as one of the main international business centers for the food industry.
Gran Canaria and Tenerife also reinforce their presence
The presence of the archipelago at the fair is completed with the participation of different island delegations. The Cabildo of Gran Canaria attends for the fourth consecutive year with its own space within the program Gran Canaria I like it, accompanying 16 island companies with the aim of strengthening its external projection and facilitating new commercial opportunities.
For your part, Tenerife participates for the first time with a institutional stand dedicated exclusively to the industrial sector, from which eight Tenerife companies develop an agenda of professional meetings and product presentations aimed at opening the market in international distribution and the Horeca channel.
