UGLY 2025 has opened its doors this Friday, consolidating itself as the great meeting of the primary sector of the archipelago

The Minister of Agriculture, Cattle raising, Fisheries and Food Sovereignty, Narvay Quintero, He visited today with the president of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, Lola Garcia, the inauguration of the 38th edition of the Agriculture Fair, Livestock and Fishing of Fuerteventura (UGLY), which is held at the Pozo Negro Experimental Agricultural Farm until Sunday 6 of April.

This meeting constitutes one of the main events in the primary sector of the archipelago and the most important in the livestock sector., consolidating itself as an essential meeting point for professionals, institutions and citizenship, by promoting the exchange of experiences, the transfer of knowledge and the enhancement of local products and traditions linked to the primary sector of the Canary Islands.

The Department of Agriculture, Cattle raising, Fisheries and Food Sovereignty of the Canary Islands Government, has a prominent role in the development of this essential event that revolves around agricultural and fishing activity, through the public company Gestión del Medio Rural de Canarias (GMR Canarias), the Canarian Institute of Agri-Food Quality (ICCA), and the General Directorate of Livestock, who supports this quote with a direct grant, reinforcing the commitment of the regional Executive with the livestock sector of the islands.

So, GMR Canarias has organized a total of twelve workshops at the institutional stand of the Government of the Canary Islands at the fair, which will be taught by professionals specializing in agri-food products and which will have the gofios, the honeys, cheeses, Wines, craft beers and other Canarian products as protagonists. These activities are aimed at diverse audiences, offering everything from specific workshops for schoolchildren to sessions designed for families and adults. Its objective is to promote knowledge and value local productions, promoting a direct connection between the products of the primary sector and the citizens who visit this event.

This public company also collaborates in the Livestock Drag Exhibition and the Yuntas Handling Exhibition, that make visible the traditions and practices of the primary sector of the islands and promote the conservation of their cultural heritage, while offering a unique opportunity for the general public to discover and value them.

Besides, the Canarian Institute of Agri-Food Quality (ICCA) collaborates in the organization of the prestigious National Goat's Milk Cheese Competition - Tabefe Awards, emblematic competition that highlights the quality and diversity of goat cheeses made in Spain.

In this new edition of FEAGA Saborea Lanzarote is present with a stand where you can taste local products, In addition, different cheese gastronomic workshops will be held., potatoes, Wines, gins and gofio from Lanzarote, among other products, as well as tastings and pairings. “With the participation of Saborea Lanzarote in this fair, our products are valued as a key piece of the economic development and identity of Lanzarote and La Graciosa”, concludes the Minister of Economic Promotion, Nori Machín, who took the opportunity to invite citizens to visit FEAGA this weekend and the Lanzarote stand. La Palma promotes the promotion of its products

La Palma will have a large institutional stand that will include a tourist exhibitor, other craft, the traditional production of live palmeros cigars and a careful selection of gastronomic products from the island, like cheese, mojos, wines or pastries.

The Minister of Tourism, Raquel Rebollo, highlights the promotional aspect of the event: “Feaga brings together thousands of visitors, including tourists who are on holiday in Fuerteventura. That is why we have incorporated a specific Tourism exhibitor, with the aim of spreading the attractions of La Palma and encouraging the use of the direct flight between both islands this summer”.
