Gran Canaria I Like it displays 19 demonstrations in GastroCanarias to reinforce the link between local products, kitchen and primary sector
Gran Canaria has begun its participation in Gastrocanarias 2026 with a clear commitment to local products, the primary sector and the construction of a gastronomic experience linked to the territory. The island attends this eleventh edition of the Canary Islands Gastronomic Fair with the greatest professional display in its history at this fair, which is celebrated until 21 May at the Tenerife Fairgrounds.
The Minister of Economic Development of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria participated this Tuesday in the official opening of the show and served as host at the institutional stand of Gran Canaria I like it, where he welcomed institutional representatives, professionals and assistants from the gastronomic and agri-food sector of the Archipelago.
The Gran Canaria presence, promoted by the Cabildo of Gran Canaria with the collaboration of the Chamber of Commerce of Gran Canaria, is articulated this year under the concept “From product to experience”. An idea that locates the origin of the raw material and the joint work between producers, chefs and sommeliers as the axis of the island's gastronomic story.
During the opening, The counselor highlighted the strategic value of gastronomy for the island economy and the role of the primary sector and restaurants in the identity of Gran Canaria. He stressed, besides, that the fair allows us to show the work that exists behind each product and continue positioning Gran Canaria gastronomy as a tool for economic development, identity and foreign promotion.
The Gran Canaria Me Gusta stand will host a total of 19 presentations and gastronomic demonstrations starring chefs, island wine producers and experts. The programming combines live cooking, tastings and spaces for dialogue around emblematic products such as gofio, Canarian meats, the cheeses, the coffee, the local fish, the potatoes, the Valsequillo millet, the tomato or the Telde watercress.
Restaurants and gastronomic projects such as The Avenue Winery, Verode, Cress Bistro, What Milk, The Bejeque, Romantic House, The Guayres, The Passage, Coffee Funggi y Neketán Pastry. Added to them are producers and companies in the primary sector such as El Cordel Estate, Pérez Gil Molinería, Frimancha, Back to La Solana or the Island Slaughterhouse, among others.
The proposal is completed with the participation of the Gran Canaria Wine Regulatory Council, whose members of the Tasting Committee accompany the elaborations with wines from the island. A presence that reinforces the dialogue between cuisine, product and territory, and that allows Gran Canaria gastronomy to be presented as a complete experience.
With this participation, Gran Canaria reinforces its positioning within the Canarian gastronomic map and claims a diverse pantry, professionalized and capable of connecting field work, the sea, restoration and economic promotion.
