Canarias reinforces in Gastrocanarias the value of local product with GMR, ICCA and a tasting agenda, workshops and professional meetings

The agri-food wealth of the Canary Islands once again occupies a leading place in Gastrocanarias 2026, where the autonomous government reinforces the promotion of local products through GMR Canarias and the Canarian Institute of Agri-Food Quality. Quote, inaugurated at the Tenerife Fairgrounds, is celebrated until 21 May and brings together companies, producers, chefs, distributors and professionals in the gastronomic sector of the Islands.

The public company Management of the Rural Environment of the Canary Islands, attached to the Department of Agriculture, Cattle raising, Fisheries and Food Sovereignty, participates in this edition with a renovated stand and a program designed to bring the diversity of the Archipelago's food to the professional and general public.

The area counselor, Narvay Quintero, During the inauguration, he highlighted that Gastrocanarias represents an opportunity to bring the agri-food production of the Islands closer to both professionals and citizens., reinforcing the importance of local consumption and recognition of the work behind each food.

The presence of the Canarian Executive in the room is also articulated from the institutional role of sponsor, together with the Cabildo of Tenerife and the City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Through GMR Canarias and the ICCA, The strategy focuses on giving visibility to the productions of the Archipelago, support marketing and strengthen the link between gastronomy, territory and primary sector.

The GMR Canarias space is organized into four areas: a direct sales area for producers, a space for business meetings, a workshop and tasting area, and an exhibition area of ​​Canarian agri-food preparations. During the three days of the fair, the stand gathers fruits, mojos, remembered, sales, extra virgin olive oils, jams, cheeses, Wines, liquors, craft beers and other productions from the Islands.

He ICCA also participates with a selection of distinguished products in the Agrocanarias Awards, reinforcing the promotion of food and beverages of recognized quality within the Archipelago. The initiative allows the professional sector to be shown a broad photograph of current Canarian production, from traditional preparations to proposals with a higher degree of innovation.

Among the companies with a direct presence at the stand are Luma Jams, El Rebusco Wineries, Innova Food, Crater Wineries, Bernardo’s, Agüita Craft Beer, Fuerteventura Livestock Group, Monje Wineries, Tostones Mar, Lacasmi Winery, Mojos Guachinerfe, Casa Efigenia, Cumbres de Abona Winery y Chocolates Lava, among other firms.

Programming includes workshops, tastings and gastronomic demonstrations focused on tropical fruits, artisanal fishing, coffee grown in the Canary Islands, Archipelago beef, Wines, vermouths, liquors, cheeses and cocktails made with Canarian distillates. An agenda that seeks to translate the product into experience and generate new promotion and marketing opportunities.

GMR Canaries is also participating, through brand Volcanic Xperience, in it Gastronomic Hub Trends Talks, held on the Heineken stage. This space brings together producers, chefs, sommeliers and professionals to reflect on the challenges of Canarian gastronomy, the proximity product, the room, wine and gastrotourism, the Atlantic culinary identity and the potential of island livestock farming.
