The Gran Canaria Me Gusta Fair captivates more than 15.000 personas, historical attendance record, according to data provided by the organization
The Gran Canaria Me Gusta Fair closed its doors today after having conquered, during the weekend, to more than 15.000 personas, figure that not only exceeds the number of attendees of the last edition, but it marks a record in the history of this fair. Con 110 companies, 2 craftsmen and 20 town halls, The Fair has also broken a record of exhibitors with space to show their products and creations.
“A resounding success for the Fair, which has once again far exceeded last year's number of attendees in this edition.”, announced the Minister of Economic Development, Minerva Alonso, who reported the “Absolutely full in the Food Sovereignty workshops and gastronomic exhibitions, but above all in the support of citizens in the purchase of local products from companies in the primary sector”. “Once again the citizens of Gran Canaria have shown absolute support for this eco-island project.”, the counselor added.
The Minister of Primary Sector and Food Sovereignty, Miguel Hidalgo, He was also satisfied “with the splendid result in the participation of citizens who have come to the different activities” and highlighted the role of participating producers, “that have given a very important image of biodiversity around the world of the primary sector combined with the world of gastronomy, which is making a huge projection of local products”.
The event has been consolidated, So, as a perfect space for meeting, learning and discovering the large number of products that make up the pantry of Gran Canaria and in which recipes and experiences linked to the primary sector and local gastronomy have been shared.

During the three days, The fairgrounds were filled with a family and festive atmosphere, that attracted thousands of people wanting to discover the quality, the variety and potential of the local product as a hallmark, but also economic development. And the constant influx to the exhibitors' stands reaffirms the growing interest of the island's inhabitants in knowing and consuming local products and, therefore, its commitment to the island primary sector.
This interest was also evident in the long lines and the “full capacity” of organized activities; catas, tastings and gastronomic exhibitions such as that of the Michelin Star chef, Jordi Cruz, who cooked three recipes based on “great products from the island”. “It has been difficult for me because there are many”, assured the Catalan chef, that during his stay on the island he was able “know the products here to understand them and then apply them”. “I have been able to discover an island that is alive, who wants to do many things, who wants to be there and show that he has capabilities, products and more”, manifested.
