This Saturday, Santiago del Teide will make a nougat with a length of more than 110 meters and 295 kilos of ingredients, among which the local almond stands out

this saturday, 14 from December, from the 10:00 h. and in the Plaza Buganvilla de Los Gigantes, the municipality of Santiago del Teide will once again reach a new record with the elaboration of the largest nougat in Spain with local product, whose preparation will include chefs and pastry chefs from Acyre Canarias, residents of the municipality, visitors and journalists linked to the world of gastronomy.

It is worth mentioning that the aforementioned commercial initiative is organized by the City Council of the Historical Village of Santiago del Teide and has the collaboration of the Government of the Canary Islands., the Commerce area of ​​the Island Council of Tenerife, Breathe, Acyre Canary Islands and, finally, Alcampo.

Through this commercial revitalization event, which seeks the involvement of the local community, The council will promote the tourism promotion of our municipality as a gastronomic destination as well as the promotion of our local gastronomic products., as is the case of the almond from Santiago del Teide, which will be one of the main protagonists in a production that will have a length of more than 110 meters and 295 kilos of ingredients.

Regarding the ingredients with which said preparation will be carried out, the largest nougat in Spain with local product will have:

  • 60 kilos of dark chocolate.
  • 40 kg of white chocolate.
  • 50 kilos of gofio.
  • 25 kg of crispy biscuit.
  • 20 kilos of puffed rice.
  • 70kg of candied banana.
  • 30 kg of almonds from Santiago del Teide.

Regarding the itinerary of its preparation, The deployment of cooks and pastry chefs will begin their work from 08:00H., counting during the course of the morning with the involvement of volunteers, tourists staying in hotel establishments in our municipality and journalists; highlighting that it will be from 17:00H. when the official measurement of the nougat is carried out by representatives of Acyre Canarias and the council to, later, make way for the cutting of the same and tasting by the attendees
