Chef Germán Ortega (La Aquarela, Gran Canaria), with a Michelin Star and Two Repsol Suns, will inaugurate the “Encounters with Star” he 27 September
Germán Ortega, with a Michelin Star and two Repsol Suns in the restaurant La Aquarela (Gran Canaria), considered a benchmark of contemporary Canarian cuisine, will be the next guest 2025 in the project “Encounters with Star” co-organized by Ico Palace (Teguise, Lanzarote) y Taste Lanzarote, which will take place next Saturday, 27 September, in Ico Palace.
The program will consist of a presentation by Ortega in the Patio of the Palacio Ico hotel, followed by an appetizer specially created by himself, and a lunch jam session between him and the local chef, Victor Valverde.
After the concept of this new Palacio Ico project, co-organized with Saborea Lanzarote, lies the great success of Canarian chefs in the latest Michelin galas, which has placed the Canary Islands among the most vigorous and promising CCAA in all of Spain.
This unusual success demonstrates the vigor of a gastronomic culture that until recently was very unknown on the scene., and also that of a generation of chefs who, looking inside, but with intense international careers, has managed to capture the Canarian culinary spirit and exhibit it in a contemporary way to the world.
With this philosophy, The well-known gastronomic hotel and Saborea Lanzarote are bringing the most representative chefs of the Canarian Michelin constellation to Lanzarote.
With this annual program, Palacio Ico and Saborea Lanzarote give the island knowledge, the cuisine and personality of those who are taking Canarian cuisine to national and international stardom.

For this new meeting, Germán Ortega will explain in his presentation how, with a solid culinary training in the United Kingdom, has achieved, after working at the well-known Swedish restaurant Vassa Eggen in Stockholm and at El Bulli Hotel by Ferran Adrià, among others, and with the great Canarian sea and mountain products, express a very personal culinary style, fruit of Nordic minimalism, the technical and creative perfection of Adrià and, the most important thing, what the archipelago offers you.
The presentation will take place in the central patio of Palacio Ico. After the interactive talk, in vermouth format, The Gran Canarian chef will propose his emblematic appetizers to all participants, like the avocado and tuna cone, the financier of liver pâté and the‘little sheep'
Next, with the cook from Palacio Ico, Victor Valverde, will offer a lunch with some of its most celebrated dishes.
