The VIII edition of Orígenes will bring together 250 students from eleven training centers and a program with 19 Michelin stars, 4 Green Stars and 26 Soles Repsol
The Minister of Economic Development of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, Minerva Alonso, presented this Wednesday the eighth edition of Origins Gran Canaria I like it, the leading professional meeting in the gastronomic field in the Canary Islands, that the days will take place 29 y 30 September at the Los Olivos Cultural Ecological Center, in Counted, between the 09:30 and the 17:00 hours.
The program will bring together more than 400 attendees among professionals in the sector, national and international speakers and more than 250 cooking and catering students from eleven training centers on the islands, consolidating Orígenes as the most important gastronomic event in the Archipelago.
Alonso He stressed the importance of the meeting being held in a natural environment and with strong participation of the students: “This is an event deeply attached to the territory, and that is why we give so much importance to the presence of training centers. “We want the young people who are trained today with top-level references to work tomorrow to care for the Island and its landscape through their professional work.”.
A program of excellence
The poster for this edition will be made up of some of the most prominent names in national cuisine. Among them are Toño Pérez (Atrium Restaurant, Caceres – 3 Michelin stars and 3 Soles Repsol), Diego Guerrero (DSTAgE, Madrid – 2 Michelin stars, Green Star and 3 Soles Repsol), Begoña Rodrigo (The Climb, Valencia – 1 Michelin star, 3 Soles Repsol and recognized as the Best Vegetable Cook in the World), accompanied by the Galician Pepe Solla, Pedro Sanchez (Bága, Jaen – 1 Michelin star, 3 Soles Repsol), Samuel Naveira (Mu-Na, Ponferrada – 1 Michelin star and 1 Sol Repsol), who will show his particular interpretation of Aquanaria's Atlantic sea bass, as well as Javier Vega y Blanca Martínez (Gustatory Memory, Valencia) and the Costa Rican Randy Siles (Autochthonous).
The local representation will be headed by Germán Ortega (La Aquarela, Mogan – 1 Michelin star and 2 Soles Repsol), Borja Marrero (Muxgo, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria – 1 Estrella, 1 Michelin Green Star and 1 Sol Repsol), Richard Díaz (from Soronto, LPGC) and the Tenerife native Victor Suarez (Haydeé – 1 Michelin star and 1 Sol Repsol).
The room, wine and local products
The program will also make a strong commitment to restaurant and sommelier professionals., with the participation of Cristina Navarro (Aponiente sommelier, Cadiz – 3 stars and 1 Michelin Green Star, 3 Soles Repsol), Diego Tornel (Bevir by Lopesan, Gran Canaria), Silvia Camarero (Muxgo, LPGC), Nicola Ivicic (La Aquarela), Marcos Trujillo (Bardal, Ronda – 2 Michelin stars and 3 Soles Repsol) y Daniel Giant (Mu-Na, Ponferrada).
The wine sector will be represented by the oenologist Raul Perez and the experts Jose Romero y José María Márquez (León Domecq Winery, Jerez), while in the field of innovation in the primary sector, Eduardo Torres (Rock Mill, Valencia) and the farmers of Gáldar Cristina Polo y Maxime Pennequin (Coffee Fungi).
And the program will be conducted by the communicator specialized in gastronomy. Veronica Zumalacárregui.
Training centers and leading students
Eleven training centers have confirmed their participation: IES Arguineguín, IES Faro of Maspalomas, CIFP Villa de Agüimes, CIFP San Cristobal, MasterD, CIFP Felo Monzón, Las Palmas Hotel School, CIFP Guide, IES Bathtubs, Hecansa Hotel Escuela Santa Brígida and Hecansa Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The presence of more than 250 students each day reinforces the pedagogical and training nature of the event.
In the words of the counselor, “the knowledge and inspiration shared here not only feed the present of the sector, but also the future of Canarian gastronomy, that will be built with the talent of these students”.
Logistical details
The Cabildo of Gran Canaria and the Chamber of Commerce have arranged bus shuttles from the Alcampo Telde parking lot (departures at 08:30 y 08:45 hours) to facilitate access to the premises and avoid parking problems around the property.
The eighth edition of Orígenes is organized by the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, through the Gran Canaria Me Like program, and the Chamber of Commerce of Gran Canaria, with the collaboration of Equipatel Insular, Aquanaria, CocaCola, Vinophiles, Hotel Cristina by Tigotán, Frimancha and Makro.
