The dean of the Canary Islands press delivers the 39 National Gastronomy Awards in a dynamic gala held in the El Sauzal auditorium, Tenerife
Notice Diary, the dean of the press Canary Islands, once again paid tribute to gastronomy and its protagonists at the annual awards ceremony for the sector. On this occasion he celebrated 39 edition of the National Gastronomy Awards.
The gala, held in the Auditorium of El Sauzal (Tenerife) and led by a very wise Aaron Gomez, whose sense of humor connected with the audience, meeting at restaurateurs, producers, specialized journalists and various authorities among whom the Government of the Canary Islands in the person of the Primary Sector advisor, Narvay Quintero.
The president of the awards jury, and coordinator of the gastronomy pages of Notice Diary, journalist Jose Luis Conde, was in charge of welcoming the audience in an applauded opening speech that included interesting reflections on current trends and consumer habits, that are taking us down a path that we don't know if it is the right one or not.. He cited Ferran Adria at the time of highlighting the danger that the traditional recipes of the regions run due to the unstoppable influence of other gastronomic cultures.
Night of emotion and gratitude
The humor of Gómez lived together, since then, with the emotional charge of the speeches of the winners who, in addition, filled teams with gratitude, families, clients and, of course, recognition drivers.
The Manuel Iglesias Award, creator of the awards, pioneers in Spain delivered by a media, it was for Alexis Garcia, of One Hundred Per Hundred Puff Pastry in Santa Cruz. The Best Pastry Work Award went to the Zulay Pastry Bakery, of the brothers Rubén, Bryan y Aday Medina, who “have updated and expanded” the family workshop opened in The Palm.
The Best National Restaurant went to La Word (Valencia), of Begoña Rodrigo, one of the most prominent chefs in the country. The Best Restaurant award recognized Etéreo, of Pedro Nel Restrepo y Viviana Sarriá, a reference place in the capital of Tenerife, double sunny in the Repsol Guide, while Best International Restaurant went to Kensei-Contemporary Japanese, what Victor Planas has projected among the best in Spain.
Finally, the #ConsumeCanario Award went to Romantic House Product Interpretation Center, situated in Agaete, for his “philosophy of proximity and sustainability”. The Best Work in Wines award went to Patricia Perdomo, viticulturist who “represents the generational change” in The Palm. The award for Best Broadcasting Work went to the actor Juan Echanove, what, with various projects in the press, radio and television, even in own publications, has contributed to making gastronomy known. He acknowledged in his acceptance speech that on five occasions they have tried to give him the award., until they have achieved it.
