The Minister of Agriculture of the Government of the Canary Islands participated in the inauguration of this event that is held in Madrid until 25 April and in which a hundred companies from the islands exhibit their productions

More than a hundred Canarian companies participate until next Thursday, 25 of April, In Madrid (IFEMA) in the 37th edition of the Gourmets Salon, event to which the agri-food sector of the islands attends to strengthen and open new channels of foreign marketing for its products in the delicatessen segment, thanks to the support of Government of the Canary Islands through the Canarian Institute of Agri-Food Quality (ICCA), GMR Canarias, Proexca, and together with the seven Cabildos.

This event, the main quality food and beverage fair in Europe and also a world reference in this field, It constitutes a space for the islands in which to exhibit and taste their productions and a meeting point with clients and distributors of productions of the highest quality.. To this end, The Canary Islands administrations have financed and arranged a stand of 420 square meters in which wines are promoted, cheeses, mojos, jams, almogrotes, remembered, sea ​​salts, cafés, fish, craft beers, sweet creams, moringa oil and powder, sweets, spirits, liquors, gin, snacks banana, etc., and has an area aimed at holding professional meetings and promotional activities.

During the opening of the meeting, the Minister of Agriculture, Cattle raising, Fisheries and Food Sovereignty of the Government of the Canary Islands, Narvay Quintero, accompanied by the director of the ICCA, Luis Arraez Guadalupe, and the CEO of Rural Environment Management of the Canary Islands (GMR Canarias), Juan Antonio Alonso, highlighted the collaboration of the regional Executive and the island corporations in joint actions to promote and support local products and, definitely, to the producers, to the primary sector and the agri-food industry of the archipelago.

“It is essential to continue working together and support the presence of Canarian companies at events such as Gourmets., that each year represents new business opportunities for these companies and the possibility of closing agreements for the marketing of their brands in the Peninsula., other European countries and also outside this continent”, indicated the head of the Area.

“The Canary Islands have products of the highest quality and uniqueness, which, definitely, They are the basis of an increasingly powerful and attractive gastronomy that is key in the tourist promotion of the islands as an offer beyond the sun and the beach., and a tool to continue promoting our agricultural and fishing activities and their professionals”, concluded.

Canary Islands Day in Madrid

This Tuesday takes place “A trip through the Canary Islands”, an initiative promoted by the ICCA and GMR Canarias through its Volcanic Xperience brand together with the General Directorate of Fisheries, with the support of Binter and the aquaculture company Aquanaria, coordinated by the Canarian chef Braulio Simancas, which brings together five presentations (“Between the Canary Islands and Peru, by the chefs Miguel Valdiviezo y Rosalía Díaz Cieza; “Fishing tradition brought to the kitchen: Tunas from the Canary Islands, in charge of the “Michelin stars” Adrian Bosch y Abraham Ortega, and the fisherman Yeray Ramos; “El Gofio: the sweet moment of the day”, offered by the pastry chef Alexis Garcia, the chef Braulio Simancas and the winery Sandra Armas; “Aquanaria Atlantic Sea Bass”, by the chefs María José Martínez y Borja Marrero; y “Discover the Volcanic Wines of the Canary Islands”, performed by the sommelier and teacher Meritxell Fergueras and the meteorologist and presenter Himar González with different Canarian brands of differentiated quality).

The talks aimed at making local products and the gastronomic wealth of the islands visible will be accompanied by different culinary proposals to taste., paired with wines awarded in the Official Agrocanarias Wine Competition 2024, belonging to the Protected Designations of Origin (DOP) Canary Islands, Gran Canaria and La Gomera.
